Operation Christmas Cookie: 5 Years Spreading Holiday Cheer

The project has grown tremendously since its beginnings in 2007, “Operation Christmas Cookie” recently experienced its fifth year providing cookies, treats, and everyday essentials to U.S. soldiers overseas.

The founder of the program, Suzanne Fitzpatrick, has been very pleased with the positive response she has gotten from this project. She has welcomed more and more volunteers every year and the operation shows no signs of slowing down.

For the past two years, Food Packaging Warehouse has supported Suzanne with our popular plastic take out containers to package the cookies and treats.  These cookie containers are versatile and very spacious to fit a variety of about 18 cookies each.  They can also be shipped great distances while protecting and keeping the cookies fresh in transport.

This year, Food Packaging Warehouse decided to help Suzanne in her act of sharing a little piece of home by sending out a few boxes of our own.

“We want to show our support to our customers and to the troops around the world serving our country,” says Jeff Lukas, president of Packaging Resources Inc. FPW’s parent company.

Food Packaging Warehouse team packaged the cookies with our clear hinged containers and ended up filling up four large boxes with containers of cookies, trail mix, and other essential items.

We hope to take part and support  Operation Christmas Cookie for many years to come. For more information on Operation Christmas Cookie and on ways to help care packages reach service men and women, contact Suzanne at sfitzpa774@gmail.com.

By combining her health-conscious food and FPW’s eco-friendly paper coffee bags, the growing Grateful Grahams offers its customers a complete and popular earth-friendly package. “I definitely wanted a bakery bag that was recycled,” Rachel says. “I also wanted a bag that came across as simple and clean to our customers.”

“What appealed to me about the bags was it even had the compostable stamp on the bottom to verify that it is earth-friendly,” she explains. “We’ve gotten so many compliments on the coffee bag.” Rachel uses two versions of FPW carry out coffee bags for her two main sizes of products, 1 lb. Natural Kraft Tin Tie Paper Coffee Bags with Window TN-4PLA and the ½ lb CN-6WIN. CN-6WIN bag suits her smaller size and 1 lb is perfect for her largest portion of grahams, she says.

Rachel notes that customers also appreciate the clear window in the front of each bag, letting them see the kind of graham crackers they’re seeking.

“When you’re buying fresh baked goods it’s always nice to see what you’re purchasing,” Rachel observes. “It’s that extra eye-appealing quality that makes a big difference.”

Grateful Graham’s grahams themselves come in different widths as well and the window allows the customer to find the exact type of graham they’re looking for. “We have people who would search specifically for the thinnest kind of grahams if that’s their favorite.”

Rachel’s business has operated for one year and has expanded quickly.

Culinary Design Studio Serves Many Customers (and Purposes) with Hot and Cold Food Take Out Bowls

Joshua AuerhammerIn Bigfork, Montana FoodPackagingWarehouse.com customer Chef Joshua Auerhammer serves a unique and ever-evolving menu for dine in or take out.

His well-liked boutique restaurant, Culinary Design Studio, offers catering, carry out and private dining presentations in an array of styles including Tuscan, Thai, Cuban and Indian. He says when it came to packaging and preserving his distinctive meals, he needed a container that could fit the wide range of his restaurant’s needs.

B40 plastic soup bowls“I like that the bowls are good containers for hot and cold food, they’re really the perfect size for what I’m making,” Joshua reports of his Sterling King Products B22 plastic soup bowls

He serves lunch entrees in his exclusive 16-seat restaurant with a hot soup and cold salad. Joshua uses the 22 oz soup bowls for each of his side dishes.

The plastic soup bowls from Sterling King Products comes in a base and lid combo and Joshua says the fit of the two makes carry out hassle free. “The lids are nice and secure so they keep the soup very hot for a long time,” Joshua explains.

After seeing the winning features of the bowls, he has found a new way to give his customers added convenience. “I use the bowls as a doggie bag at dinner hour,” he adds. “They’re microwaveable so my customers can pop the container with their food into the microwave the next day.”

Recyclable and microwaveable plastic soup bowls, he believes, are appealing to his earth-conscious customers. “Since they’re reusable, my customers are very interested, they take notice of that for sure.”

B40 base and lid comboIn keeping with his always-changing cuisine, Joshua’s menu for the holidays features a Hungarian entrée, red lentil and root vegetable soup with a cinnamon ice cream dessert.

He remarks that the material in B22 bowls has made an impression on his customers. “Because they’re super durable people use the bowls as an alternative to Tupperware or Gladware, I use them all over the place.”
